Recently, the fifth China Law Research Cup Judicial Artificial Intelligence Challenge (LAIC2022), directed by the Information Center of the Supreme People's Court and jointly organized by the China Judicial Big Data Research Institute (the key laboratory of the Supreme People's Court's Smart Court), came to a successful conclusion. In this competition, our team's Legal Cloud - Legal Intelligent Text Robot Expert and our team's Mediate Easy - One-stop Mediation Platform for Medical Disputes won the competition. The two projects won the first and second prizes in the innovation and entrepreneurship track.

It is reported that the China Law Research Cup Judicial Artificial Intelligence Challenge, which is held annually by the China Judicial Data Research Institute (the key laboratory of the Supreme People's Court's wisdom court), has been successfully held for five times so far, and has become the most influential judicial artificial intelligence application field competition with certain international influence. As an authoritative event in the field of judicial artificial intelligence, the 5th China Law Research Cup Judicial Artificial Intelligence Challenge has attracted many courts, universities and high-tech enterprises to participate. They were unanimously recommended by the expert judges.

The project that won the first prize was Lawxun - Legal Intelligent Text Robot Expert by the Lawxun team from Southeast University. The members of the project are Xu Tingasa, Bi Sheng, Zhou Wufan, Zhang Yujie, Huang Wenjie, Zhou Shiqi, Long Xuan and Yuan Zhaohan, and the instructors are Wang Lusheng, Xu Minchuan and Cai Yuping. It is dedicated to using artificial intelligence technology to empower legal services, focusing on the back-end capacity support, overcoming the supply chain neck of the industry, becoming the supply chain stabilizer of China's legal technology industry, and promoting the high-quality development of the legal technology industry. At present, LegalCloud has 14 legal technology patents, and its team provides a number of intelligent legal services based on international leading technologies such as natural language processing, knowledge mapping and information retrieval, which can significantly improve the efficiency and intelligence of the rule of law. Along with the further maturation of the front-end digital ecology, the growth potential of LawCloud is huge.

The second prize project of our university is Mediate Easy - One-stop Mediation Platform for Medical Disputes by the Mediate Easy team. The project members are Yang Yiming, Yuan Yanghao, Xu Tingasa, Zhou Wufan and Zhang Yujie, and the supervisors are Zhang Boli and Xu Minchuan. The issue of medical disputes is the focus and difficulty of mediation work under the Ministry of Justice's Digital Rule of Law and Smart Justice. The project team developed a professional, integrated and shared case handling platform for medical dispute mediation, which provides application, approval, mediation, filing, query, statistics and early warning services for related subjects. The project is the world's first type-based mediation platform for medical-patient disputes, and the three key technologies (intelligent guided case collection, class case recommendation, and intelligent office platform) are at the leading and international advanced level in China. At present, the system has been handed over to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Justice and thirteen urban medical mediation centers in Jiangsu Province for trial, and is expected to be officially launched at the end of 2023.

This award-winning project is an important achievement of Southeast University Law School in responding to the national legal data strategy and exploring the development of new liberal arts to meet the major needs of digital construction in the field of rule of law. The School of Law has long insisted on the construction of interdisciplinary disciplines and promoted the transformation and upgrading of the discipline of law for new liberal arts in the new development stage. Based on the fruitful research results of cutting-edge legal innovation and technology, the School has continued to focus on and deepen the cultivation of digital law complex talents in the direction of digital law, and explored a new innovative model of cultivating legal talents to adapt to the digital society.
