On March 24, 2023, the general meeting and working symposium of Jiangsu University Students' Legal Aid Union was successfully held in Suiyuan Campus of Nanjing Normal University. Associate Professor Ye Xiaohui, director of Jiangsu Heng Ai Legal Aid and Research Center, presided over the general meeting, and Wang Dong, deputy director of Jiangsu Legal Aid Center, presided over the symposium. Professor Liu Qichuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the College, Ms. Fei Qianqian, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, as well as Ma Dianjie and Zhao Yudi, the leaders of Southeast Legal Aid, Xu Jie and Ma Xiangxue, some teachers and students of Jiangsu University Legal Aid Union and some leaders of Jiangsu Legal Aid Center and Jiangsu Heng Ai Center attended the meeting, which was a great success.
01 Jiangsu University Legal Aid Union Change Ceremony
First of all, Nanjing Normal University, as the chairman of the 13th Jiangsu Colleges and Universities Legal Aid Union, made a report on its work by Wang Tengru, who was the student rotating chairman. Gu Meihong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School of Nanjing Normal University, gave a speech and expressed her gratitude for the trust and support of the universities, which enabled NUJ to complete the tasks and projects successfully without disgracing its mission at this special time.
After that, a solemn ceremony of handing over the flag was held, in which the previous chairman-in-office university solemnly passed the flag to the newly elected 14th chairman-in-office university, Southeast University, with a warm and solemn scene.

Deputy Secretary Liu Qichuan expressed his gratitude for the trust of Jiangsu University Students' Legal Aid Union and expressed the importance of the dean and secretary to the work of the current chairman university. He introduced the philosophy, academic achievements, faculty level and training methods of Southeast University Law School, and expressed his expectation that the Legal Aid Center of Southeast University Law School would be able to contribute more Southeast legal power to the society in the future.
After that, Xu Jie, the new student rotating chairman, also made a statement, saying that he would take Southeast Legal Aid as a position, and under the guidance of Heng Ai Center and the support of Legal Aid Union, he would continue to work hard, serve and unite all universities, and jointly add bricks to the cause of legal aid in Jiangsu Province universities.
Finally, Associate Professor Ye Xiaohui, director of Jiangsu Heng Ai Legal Aid and Research Center, put forward the plan of legal aid work in colleges and universities this year, and hoped that all colleges and universities could interconnect and share resources to promote high-quality, orderly and standardized legal aid services in colleges and universities when the major brand activities of the alliance were fully resumed.
02 Seminar on Legal Aid Work in Jiangsu Universities
In the symposium, teachers and students of Jiangsu University Legal Aid Union not only shared their experiences and practices of legal aid services, but also made questions and suggestions to the leaders of the provincial legal aid center about the quality and management of legal aid services in colleges and universities, and the meeting lasted for nearly three hours and was very fruitful.
During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Liu Qichuan introduced the current situation of Southeast Legal Aid, pointing out that: Southeast Legal Aid was established in 2013 with scientific organizational structure, concern of leading teachers and good development, complementing with QingYiQiangYanPinYi Law Popularization and Propaganda Group. Since its establishment, the organization has made outstanding achievements such as promoting the construction of rule of law in South China and writing more than 200,000 words of case collection. At the same time, he further raised expectations: he hoped that Southeast Legal Aid, while taking on more social responsibilities, could strengthen the exchange and cooperation with the provincial legal aid in terms of organization management and construction, with a view to making great progress.
Subsequently, Ms. Fei Qianqian also made useful additions to the future development of Southeast LAS, putting forward ideas and suggestions of constructive significance, as well as introducing our contribution to the construction of the rule of law society, the many honors we have achieved and our good development, hoping that Southeast LAS can further develop during the rotating presidency.
Southeast University became the 14th Chair-in-Office, which is a recognition of the achievements of Southeast University Law School and Southeast Legal Aid under the guidance of the concept of Wen Rui Yucheng. Southeast University School of Law and Southeast Legal Aid will set a higher standard for themselves, take the responsibility of being the chairman university, and do their best to accomplish all tasks and draw a grand blueprint for legal aid in Jiangsu Province together with their legal colleagues in the province.
