Thematic Education Series of Learning and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era

In order to further study and implement the theme education of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, a seminar on the construction of the rule of law in Nanjing was held in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Arts and Sciences Building of Jiulong Lake Campus of Southeast University in the afternoon of June 14, 2023, jointly planned by Southeast University Law School and Nanjing Municipal Committee of Political and Legal Affairs. Feng Youfang, Deputy Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of Nanjing Municipal Committee, Yang Xuefang, Secretary General of the Municipal Law Society, Bo Jian, Director of the Rule of Law Department, Zhang Youzhi, Second Grade Officer of the Political and Legal Committee of Nanjing Municipality, and Yan Xia, Secretariat of the Nanjing Law Society Organ, visited the Law School.
Professor Ouyang Benqi, Dean of Southeast University Law School, Professor Liu Qichuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of Southeast University Law School, Professor Meng Hongzhi, Director of Southeast University Rule of Law Government Research Center, Professor Yin Ji, Director of Southeast University Civil Prosecution Base, Associate Professor Gao Ge, Director of Southeast University Law Practice Education Center, and Associate Professor Liu Yaohui of Southeast University Law School attended this meeting.
The symposium was hosted by Professor Ouyang Benqi, Dean of Law School. Dean Ouyang Benqi introduced to the leaders of the Municipal Political and Legal Committee the development history, faculty and discipline construction achievements of Southeast University Law School, and pointed out that in the context of the construction of the rule of law in the new era, there are many hot spots and prospects for future cooperation between the two units, and expressed his gratitude to the Municipal Political and Legal Committee for its strong support to the construction and development of the Law School.
In the specific part of the symposium, Deputy Secretary Feng Youfang highly affirmed the discipline construction, infrastructure, academic platform and talent team of Southeast University Law School. In order to further implement Xi Jinping's thought on rule of law, enhance the communication among legal education, legal research workers and legal practitioners, promote the high-quality development of rule of law, and take the College-Local Cooperation as a guide for the positive interaction between legal education and judicial practice.
The leaders and teachers of Southeast University School of Law actively contributed their ideas around the joint construction. During the discussion, the two sides exchanged their opinions and proposed preliminary ideas and solutions to related problems, and the whole meeting reached a climax. Prof. Yin Ji pointed out that the current hot spots of judicial reform should be focused on strengthening the research on the compliance of case-related enterprises and the linkage mechanism of public prosecution and law; Prof. Meng Hongzhi believed that Southeast University Law School will continue to play the advantage of talents in the field of legislative evaluation, and hoped that the practical departments can provide a platform for the outstanding teachers and students of the Law School to exercise and improve; President Liu Qichuan emphasized that, relying on the rich legal resources of Nanjing, it is possible to Dean Liu Qichuan emphasized that with the rich legal resources in Nanjing, the integration of legal education and rule of law practice could be promoted through the platform of various law societies, so as to guarantee the high-quality development of Nanjing with rule of law services. Associate Professor Liu Yaohui pointed out that the law school will contribute to the joint construction of the institute and the local community based on the platform of National Human Rights Education and Training Base of Southeast University Institute of Human Rights, in the topics of rule of law for minors and human rights protection for the elderly.
The seminar strengthened the communication between the institute and the university, and also played a good role in guiding the development of rule of law work. The seminar built a bridge of communication between the two sides for positive linkage. We all expressed that we would take this seminar as an opportunity to give full play to our respective advantages, to develop wider and deeper cooperation in the future, to promote the high-quality development of the training of rule of law talents, and to make joint efforts to cultivate a new generation of legal people who can uphold social justice and work diligently and professionally.
