At noon on 15 April 2024, the Dean's Luncheon and Midterm Teaching Inspection Symposium of the Law School of Southeast University was successfully held in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Law School. Professor Ouyang Benqi, Dean of Southeast University School of Law, Professor Liu Qichuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Professor Xiong Zhanglin, Vice Dean of the School of Law, Professor Shan Pingji, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the School of Law, Ms Chen Yun, Secretary of the Youth League Committee and Undergraduate Counsellor, Ms Fei Qianqian, Secretary of the Undergraduate Teaching and Learning and Personnel Secretary, Ms Wang Weiwei, Secretary of the Undergraduate Teaching and Learning and Graduate Teaching and Learning Secretary, Ms Ma Yanghuah, as well as 14 representatives of the students attended the activity together.
Dean Ouyang Benqi encouraged the senior students who are anxious because of further education to face up to difficulties and fight against anxiety. He pointed out that the reason why students are anxious is because of the confusion and uncertainty of the future, but there is more than one direction in life, so it is more important to ‘grind on the heart, practice on the matter’, to master their own skills, have their own foothold, keep a positive mindset, and keep a positive mindset. Secretary Liu Qichuan pointed out that the college will actively advocate and support students to participate in scientific research competitions, and will provide the necessary resources and guidance to promote the growth and development of students in the field of scientific research, in order to cultivate more outstanding talents, and said that the college will establish a sound incentive mechanism to encourage students to participate in scientific research competitions enthusiastically.
Vice President Xiong Zhanglin listened to the students' opinions and suggestions on the teaching of the courses, and said that he would further communicate with the teachers of the College to improve the content of classroom teaching, to provide students with better educational resources and learning environment, and to better support their scientific research activities. In addition, Vice Dean Xiong Zhanglin also suggested that students should improve their learning efficiency and do a good job in time management and planning.
Vice Dean Shan Pingji stressed that the study of the course needs to strengthen the cultivation of intrinsic factors, to learn more, read more, ask more questions, do a good job of pre-study and review, and actively participate in classroom discussions, and ethnic minority students should make full use of the opportunity of the bilingual course learning to make up for their English. It is recommended that students communicate fully with their teachers and work together to meet the final exam week. In addition, Vice President Shan Pingji said that the college will also continue to optimise the teaching management and service system to promote the reform and development of teaching.
Vice Secretary Chen Yun pointed out that physical exercise is closely related to the work of mental education, and the College will set up a special fund and actively create a favourable atmosphere of sports for all, so as to motivate more students to participate in all kinds of sports activities at all levels. In addition, the College attaches great importance to the social practice during the summer and winter holidays, and will take the initiative to expand external resources in order to create more and richer social practice platforms and opportunities for students.
At the end of the meeting, Dean Ouyang Benqi emphasised that the Dean's Luncheon, as a traditional link and platform of the College, the representatives present should convey the spirit and content of the meeting to every student, and encourage students to actively communicate with their teachers in their spare time. He pointed out that the important responsibility of colleges and universities is to cultivate talents, and it is a great responsibility to carry out the education concept of ‘students as the first priority’ and put students' affairs as the first priority.
